Westergoa was one of the seven sealands and one of the three that now lie within the borders of today's Frisian province Fryslan. (Westergoa - Eastergoa - Sudergoa) Later it was one of the three provinces of Fryslân. In the Middle Ages Westergoa most probably formed the political centre of the Frisian realm.

It was a lovely day today here in Bolsward 20C and it wasn't too windy, scale 3 from the scale of 10. Myself and dad decided to go for a bike ride. We found this nice bike tour on a Dutch GPS Tracking site (http://www.gsmtracks.nl/) since my hometown is Bolsward we started here, and made our way slowly as marked on the Googlemap on the left hand side. On the GPSTrack site we downloaded this route, and uploaded the route into our Garmin E-trex device. The Garmin comunicates with the satelites and tells us exactly when to make the turn, therefore we never lost our way. I must say that I know this route by hearth, because I grew up in this part of the country and since we do a lot on our bikes anyway, we have visited one of those roads before. The route took 45KM trough the Westergo area of Fryslan. It's a nice little bike ride with a lot of scenery, loads of grassland, farmhouses and a lot of birds too. We even saw 2 Ostridges, which was quit funny as those birds are from Australia and not Fryslan; anyway in the Frisian flat country and then seeing to of those masive birds........ you will look twice and shout something funny to them. Then a couple of yards out of the small village called Lollum, my father and I sat down to drink some water; all of the sudden there came arround 30 cows running toward us 'moo-ing', luckily there was quit a bit of channel between us and the cows so it was ok, again shouting out some text to the lovely old frysian cows. Dad thought they were in love with me, I am not quite sure about that!!
